Floyd's Pub - excellent customer service

We were craving a bar and a burger and decided to try Floyd's at the corner of Armitage and Oakley. They had a decent, if not extensive, selection of beers on tap, and a decent menu. The DH had a burger, I ordered their steak salad, medium rare. The burger was fine, the fries industrial but tasty, and his house salad was much nicer than it had to be - with roasted peppers. The steak on my salad was not anywhere close to medium rare, more like fully charred, and the server suggested she take it back for the kitchen to re-do. I tasted it, agreed, and when it came back it was perfect and I enjoyed it. But the capper was that when we got the bill, it had been comped! Which was completely unnecessary, but very much appreciated. It's not a relevatory place, but it is nice, within walking distance, and we'll be back (especially in the summer if we can snag an outside seat)

There's a bar right up the street from there near Oakley and McLean called Gallery Caberet. I'm a huge fan of their drink specials- Thursday $1.50 Leinenkugel drafts and $4.00 pitchers. They also have open mic night that night which can be good or terrible depending on who's playing.
