The Palm Lobster Deal?~

The palm has always been divine, but am I overlooking a better deal elsewhere?

That seems like an OK deal, but not a steal, going by the last time I was at the Palm a little more than a year ago. The lobster then was going for $24 a pound, IIRC. So a 4-lb. lobster a la carte would have come to $96. This deal offers that same lobster for $95. The difference is that it includes a couple of salads and a side dish.

It could be that the going rate for Palm lobster is more than $24/lb. now due to inflation (which is over 4% annually according to the latest figures), but if that is still the going rate, this deal is nothing to get ecstatic about. I wouldn't necessarily hold out for a better one, however!

Agreed. At a recent dinner at Smith and Wollensky, in the past month, the lobster was $24 per pound too. Our four pounder was delicious. That's not to say that, if I'm in the mood for lobster, I won't give the Palm special a try.
