Thought I would start a new thread on this as this is a new opening or re-opening since the building was Emmetts then Brockway Chophouse and now Emmetts again.
When I first ate at Emmetts first opening. I did not like it at all. I thought the food was overprices and horrible. Well, I still think it is overpriced but at least some of the dishes we had this time were good. The atmosphere is still the same, very nice brewpub with a nice outdoor eating area. We ate inside though and for a Monday the service was pretty slow, especially with 3 staff and only 3 tables.
Started it out with (2)Cabo Margaritta($9.50) and glass of wine(7.75). It was a tasty margarita but my modo is always more tequilla! Mondays is half-priced appetizer night so my wife and I ordered beer battered walleye and potatoe skins($9.00). You got 5 decent sized potatoe halves and they were pretty good. The walleye was great. About 10 pieces which since it was half-price night was great but paying regular price($10.99) seemed steep to me. However, it was great. The only big flaw there is the menu said it would be served with a Chipotle sauce side and it was served with just regular tartar sauce.
For meals I had the Stout Beef Brisket($16.99) and my wife had the Philly Beef sandwich($11.99). My Brisket was tender however the sauce was way to sweet and BBQ'y for me. I was expecting something richer and more robust with the word stout with it. Sides were steamed veggies(good) and garlic mashed potatoes(very dry). My wife had the Philly beef. It was more of a Combo Italian Beef and a Philly Cheesesteak with none of the good qualities of either. It was very dry and the taste was unappealing. My wife ate half and said she did not want any more. So I tried a bite and agreed with her critique. We ended up taking the rest home for the dog. The portion was also small for the cash you pay here. We got two of the least expensive things on the menu.
So I have to say go there on Mondays for the appetizers and stop there. Our bill for two was 75.04.
