Zad has been mentioned before, but last weekend I dropped in for a beef/lamb shawerma sandwich and it was really exceptional.
The place does most of the standards and isn't going to threaten Semiramis in any way. But if you're the neighborhood it's a very nice, reasonably priced option.
My sandwich on Saturday was stuffed into very fresh feeling/tasing pita, and was very generously portioned for $5.75. I don't know if it was the shawerma seasoning, or some sauce added to the sandwich, but there was a perfect warm afterglow of heat to each bite, never masking the taste of the meat. And the shaved meat had delicious crispy charred crustiness as part of almost every bit. Maybe I just came in at the right moment and the next guy got none, but it was like pure bottom-of-the-roast-pan scrapings all the way through.

I also had the cold yogurt with squash and other veggies app. (whose name I forget) and that was very refreshing on a warm afternoon. Service was efficient and friendly. I have also enjoyed their lentil soup on occasion.
