I would like to take my guests to some decent places to eat near where I'm staying. Any suggestions on some nice local treats for dinner or late night snacking after some drinking? I guess I could use some suggestions on where to drink as well. My wife love's martini's, but I don't think she would be too into the clubby type martini bars. Also, any food type will do except probably Asian. Thanks for any responses.

I will say David Burke's Primehouse since you will be right there, perhaps even staying in the hotel it is located in. You will find it in the James hotel on Ontario. Great steak many reviews on the forum, just do a search you are sure to find it. Have a good trip!

You'll be near bin 36 if you want some place to have wine, also that wine bar that i can never remember the name of in the intercontinental on michigan, as well as pops for champagne on ohio.
is making all his reservations under the name Steve Plotnicki from now on.

I agree with both those recommendations, David Burke's and Bin 36. Another good Chicago steakhouse is Gene and Georgetti's if you're looking for the old school Chicago vibe. There are some deep dish pizza options near downtown like Lou Malnati's and Giordano's. There are two upscale Mexican restaurants (Rick Bayless) near there, Frontera Grill and Topolobampo. I'll put in a word for Cafe Iberico for tapas as well. Depending on what type of atmosphere, price range, and food you're looking for, there are tons of options in River North.

Oh yeah, I had a good time at the wine bar at the Intercontinental mentioned by the other poster. It's called Eno. They specialize in chocolate, wine, and cheese. Definitely a fun spot.

I've heard a lot of good reviews about Cafe Des Architects in the Sofitel. My folks are still raving about it from a meal they had there weeks ago.

If you don't mind a short cab ride you should check out Avec or The Publican. These will suit you just fine.
