Conversation Friendly Bar in Forest Park, Brookfield, LaGran

Looking for a rec for a conversation friendly bar to get drinks and appetizers in the Forest Park, Brookfield, Lagrange area. I've searched and seen a lot of info on food in Forest Park - but not as much on bars and noise level - hoping for something where you don't have to yell to make conversation.

Cafe de Luca is an Italian restaurant with a restaurant bar. If you want to go the other way and go to a bar that serves food, try Shanahans. Sorry I don't know the exact address.

Blue Water Martini Lounge (9016 31st St., Brookfield) is a very cozy place for couples serving over 100 large 10 oz. martinis (I believe the most anywhere), they don't serve food but allow you to bring or order food in (or they sell snacks). On Tuesday's there is a free appetizer buffet for all to go along with their "Thirsty Runners Club" and I see that on St. Patrick's Day there will be free corned beef - last year it melted in your mouth. Their outdoor water garden is beautiful in the summer.

Also, I recommend the Salt Creek Wine Bar (8900 Fairview Ave., Brookfield - right along the Burlington tracks) in Brookfield - you can lounge on sofas or eat at the bar. They have a lovely menu - my favorite appetizer is the Plato Espanol - toasted rustic bread, rubbed with garlic and tomato, drizzled with olive oil and a pinch of salt, served with Manchego Cheese & Jamon Serrano - so good!

I'll admit to a fondness for Goldyburgers in Forest Park. You can sit back in the bar room, or at a booth in front.

There are 2 great bars in Berwyn almost next door to each other, The James Joyce and Quan's. They're on the South side of the BNSF tracks at Harlem Avenue. The Joyce is a classic Irish pub, and my kids call Quan's an old man's bar. The Joyce is quiet 90% of the time and Quan's is always quiet. Neither has food, but there is a Chinese joint between them that delivers to either in about 5 minutes.
