    Hi,

I'm going to be meeting someone for lunch on S Oakley and haven't had good luck with the Italian delis -- Micelis was quite charming but not particularly good. A search here turned up a few mentions of Bruna's and Bacchanalia although the rec's weren't particularly enthusiastic -- are there particular dishes that are better at these places?

Thoughts on the best lunch option on S Oakley -- we could do sit-down pasta or subs -- whatever you think is done well in this little area? thanks

    RE: Bruna's---

Stracciatella (light, spinach eggdrop soup--just great)

Penne Puttanesca (al dente mostaccioli with a light spicy sauce containing garlic, onions & olives--best rendition around).

Chicken Vesuvio (pan-fried/roasted chicken pieces with a sinful garlic sauce with roasted potatoes, sometimes with peas or green beans)

Luciano's Fusilli (rotini-style pasta with a mushroom cream sauce--rich but good)

    ****

Those are the highlights. Other dishes are fair to good. Atmosphere great, as you would expect for a place that's been open since 1933. Owner Luciano Silvestri is a trip and a half.

I'll second Bruna's. The food is consistent and delicious.

My favorites - Prosciutto and melon - this is always impeccably fresh

    Spaghetti Carbonara

    Shrimp fra Diavola

    Veal Limone
