I've noticed a Vee Vee's African Restaurant truck a couple of times in the neighborhood around Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Does anyone know if they set up in a particular place for lunch? Has anyone tried it? I could think of nothing better for lunch than a nice goat curry or chicken and egusi.

    Thanks!
I found it at lunchtime today on Ontario, right by the lake. Egusi was tasty: fish, mystery meat and tripe, mmm!

Yeah I see it on ontario and inner lake shore drive, right across from the W hotel lakeshore. Not being familiar with African food can someone recommend something? Thanks.

Update! As I am tucking in to my fish and jollof rice with plantains!

The Vee Vee truck is at lower Stetson (the stretch under AON Center, Lakeshore Athletic Club and the Hyatt). He is usually there around 12:30-1 pm until 2 pm.

And he was nice enough to walk me to the pedway to show me how to get back without having to risk my life on the street ramp with no sidewalk!

Harold (that's his name) keeps a pretty loose schedule. So if anyone is interested in calling him before you make the trek down to lower Stetson, message me and I can give you his cell number.

Vee Vee's used to park on upper Columbus just south of the river (I walked by the truck in my way to work for about a year before I realized that you don't have to be a Nigerian Cabbie to try their food). I liked their Beef "patties" a lot which are basically a riff on empanadas . . . I also got the goat in tomato sauce a few times and liked it just fine. They really pile on the beans and rice if you order that, I mean I could get three lunches of that alone. I don't know if it's the same driver/server but about 7 years ago the guy was super jovial and always greeted me with a smile or a wave as I was walking by. It was one of those little things that made slogging to work in the big city feel a little less big.
