Hello LTH,
This week, unlike most of the previous 10 weeks, I was finally able to explore a little more. I have always been a fan of reliving experiences of my past so that was my goal for this week.
Monday 11:30 AM:
Suddenly, a strong hunger pang erupts screaming, FEED ME!!! Then my thoughts turn to FRIED CHICKEN. While pondering my options is remember that I was going to spend my afternoon in Willowbrook. Yes my friends I had a craving for Del Rhea's Chicken Basket. Twenty minutes later while wiping drool from my chin I turn onto N. Frontage Rd from Rt 83. Much to my suprise, Del Rhea's is closed on Mondays, DAMMIT. Quickly, I grabbed my Grubfinder XLT pocket food radar for help. A blip apppears at the intersection of RT 83 and 63rd street. No, could it still be there? Yes, I'm happy to say The Original Sandwich Factory is still going strong. I have not eaten at the OSF in a number of years, so I decided to stop in. Truly an enjoyable selection of sandwices. My selection? I went with the prez: Warm roast beef, Swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms, tomato, and garlic may on grilled rye. Every sanwich is served with your choice of fries, fruit, cottage chees, or in my case the warm from the fryer homade potato chips served with sour cream and chives. The sandwich was decent as expected, but the chips, they are addictive. I was kinda glad that Dell Rhea's was closed.
Tuesday Noon:
Hunger call again, feeling like BBQ I drive down the streets of Westmont to find Uncle Bub's @ 132 South Cass Avenue. Having never eaten there I decided upon the 2 meat combo with rib tips and a hot link. The rib tips were pleasantly smoky with a toothsome bite. The hot link, while flavorful, I did not care for the texture, kinda mushy. I also did not care for the beans. The beans were extremly undercooked, swimming in a sweet BBQ sauce with a little bacon. Though, mush to my delite they had green river from the fountain, yum lime soda

.
Thurs: 11:00AM
While leaving an appointment in Bensenville, I thought that a 30min detour and 45 min order wait was worth the effort to stop at Gene and Jude's on my way back

to the office. I'm truly glad I did too!! Two hot dogs w/everything. The fries in their sticky sweet crunchy goodness resting gently upon a crisp frank laden with mustard, relish, onion, and sport peppers. IMHO the only way to order a dog @ G&J's. Who would believe that hot dog nirvana could be found in a grease soaked paper bag, wrapped in parchment?
Well everyone, my that's my lunch adventures for this week. Anyone else have any fun at lunchtime?
