While they are a big improvement over the cardboard crust as noted in their advertisements it is still way below all of our beloved pizza places.

The "hand tossed garlic-seasoned crust with a rich, buttery taste" did have a note of garlic and butter and was light and fluffy. Maybe too light and fluffy though as there seemed to be no substance.

The "robust sauce" was applied too lightly to make too much of a difference.

The toppings flavorless as usual. My usual Green Pepper and Bacon had a nice crunch to the bacon.

Don't worry Burt! Nothing to worry about. :)

We also tried one of their pasta bread bowls (Chicken Carbonara) and that was the standout of the evening. The sauce was creamy and flavorful and the ingredients plentiful. Not too bad but as My Bride mentioned, too much starch.

The new commercial campaign is remarkable : "OK, we admit it, our pizza sucks; we are starting over with better ingredients and recipes." How are longtime Dominoes lovers supposed to feel?

And the bread bowl filled with pasta. I wondered if that was real or some kind of half-asleep memory of an SNL skit. Did anyone eat the "bowl"? I'm as much of a pig as anyone, but that seems a bit over the top.

Thanks, I have been very tempted to try them, since I saw the commercials.

I too took one for the team the other night. Our kids had guests over (two 7 year olds) that have only ever had Domino's pizza and I couldn't seem to encourage them to try anything else. The new 'robust' sauce is not very robust and I couldn't tell the crust had any garlic in it. The left overs were promptly pitched into the garbage can last night.
One Mint Julep was the cause of it all.

Thats funny. Across from our local bar where we hang every sunday we often see a Domino's delivery driver pull up to a house across the street. Everyone always takes note and laughs - why would you order Domino's when Pizzaco's, Art of Pizza, Lou Malnatis, Pete's, and a whole host of other joints deliver to the exact same area?

I think the commercials are hilarious..."Your crust tastes like cardboard..." Who puts something like that in a commercial regarding the product you've been dishing out for the last couple decades?

Stephen Colbert did a hilarious bit about the new Domino's Pizza and associated marketing campaign.

We tried this a couple of weeks ago. While it wasn't downright horrible - we obviously lived - it wasn't something we'd order again. The crust tasted of Bisquick and the sauce lacked detectable garlic.

We did, however, agree that if we were in East Texas at present we would be celebrating the new recipe, so perhaps it will be successful in locations devoid of actual pizza.

I was watching the NFL Sunday and saw that Domino’s commercial.

    For Panther in the Den:

Just curious, did you try to take advantage of their “satisfaction guaranteed or money back offer"?

Thank you for making this great sacrifice so all of us didnt have to. I would be too ashamed to have anyone see a Domino's delivery to my house to try it
