Post #1 - February 6th, 2010, 12:08 amHi Everyone: I'm back to work (from a medical leave) and looking for a healthly, lovely place to eat breatfast around 6:30 to 7:30 am Monday-Friday, near Chicago and Ashland and Augusta and Ashland. Great coffee a must.
Please don't suggest the school cafeteria!
We don't even drink the water here! JOJOLooking for great food at good prices here on the banks of the Des Plaines River in River Forest.

Post #4 - February 6th, 2010, 10:02 amI've seen some good reviews for Jam on Damen near Augusta. There is a thread here viewtopic.php?f=14&t=25404&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=Jam. I was going to stop by there the other day for lunch, but parking was challenging and I was too lazy to walk
They open at 7:00 a.m. and are apparently Cash only (it looks like lots of cash). If you're willing to travel, the Hollywood Grill on North and Ashland is cheap and quick and always open. As for healthy and lovely and great coffee, well.......

I was going to recommend Moon's until I read "healthy, lovely"
While more coffee house than breakfast diner both Swim Cafe (opens 6am) and Lovely Bake Shop (opens 7am) would fit the bill.

I second Swim. The fact that they open at 6am 7 days a week is fantastic, and they are both lovely and healthy, serving an array of baked goods and hot breakfasts, everything from oatmeal to omelets and sausage. I can't speak to their coffee since I'm not a coffee drinker, but I've heard that it's respectable. They also have free, unlimited wi-fi. I'd be content to eat breakfast there everyday.
