I'm dropping the hubby at O'Hare mid afternoon Sunday, and am thinking brunch might be fun. Any thoughts on someplace near the airport?? And preferably a buffet, please. (always worried about my next meal LOL)

Buffet brunch somewhat close to O'Hare, off I-294 to the north: Allgauer's in Northbrook

Buffet brunch on the way to O'Hare from Lake in the Hills (and even better IMHO): Shaw's Crab House in Schaumburg

I strongly recommend the brunch at Shaw's. I posted a detailed report on a recent Sunday brunch at their Chicago location, and I think the brunch is identical in Schaumburg; click here to read it.

Alas, what used to be the best brunch buffet in the airport area is no more, now that the Sofitel has become a Hilton. I'm not sure whether they do brunch. I'd imagine some of the Rosemont-area hotels must offer something in that line, and it might be a service to check that out. I think the Hyatt Regency O'Hare has a buffet.

Meanwhile, if you want an already vetted spot and are willing to settle for order-off-the-menu diner breakfast, I can highly recommend Mrs. V's in Des Plaines.
