I don't tend to post about eateries much as I'm more interested in cooking, shopping and raising food but a new (much anticipated) deli opened in Elmhurst and I've yet to see it mentioned.
Rosalia's Deli is attached to Angelo's Restaurant. Owned by local residents, the Battaglia family, it's just what this town needed. While many of us aren't shy about driving to Addison and shopping at Caputo's, now we have a much closer source of great deli meats, homemade pastas and sauces, wood-oven pizza and gelato.
Fresh made sandwiches, salads and soups are also available as is a small selection of packaged items.
I've only tried the Sicilian Margherita pizza but the fresh mozzarella won me over as did the great crust. A 12" is $8. Hubby also bought some tortellini for a quick dinner and we loved both the meat and cheese. Tender pasta and flavorful fillings.
Typically we buy sliced cured meats, like salamis or capicola or mortedella. Sources are both domestic and imported. It's not Boar's Head but I can't find my note saying what brands I _did_ see.
This is mostly a carry-out experience but a couple of tables are set next to a window, near the pizza oven, for dining in.
It seems Elmhurst is becoming a sandwich destination.
