    Hi!
Hubby and I are looking for a good first dining experience for both Korean BBQ and Indian. We live in Niles and want to start easy. Any suggestions?

A really good first Indian experience is located right in your neighborhood (Niles)...

    Himalayan Restaurant
8265 Golf Road (Four Flaggs Shopping Center--near the Secretary of State)
    Niles, IL

Food is great and they will turn the spice level up or down, depending on your request.
Plus, I believe they are still on Restaurant.com!

Niles is not too far from both the Indian/Pakistani area on Devon, as well as the Korean area of Chicago, probably about a 15 minute drive to either. Kahn BBQ is a favorite pakastani place of mine (and most of us on LTH). While I'm not too familiar with the area around Niles, I know there are decent korean restaurants around the H-Mart there, as well as the food court within H-Mart itself which I've eaten at plenty of times, and never been disappointed.

Not sure what you meant by start easy, but I think the best way be introduced to any type of food would be to organize an LTH event! This way you'd have people knowledgeable about the menu to order with, plus you'd get to try more things eating as a group. I would be more than happy to join you for a dinner to either korean or indian.
Part of the secret of a success in life is to eat what you like and let the food fight it out inside.

Seoul Garden in Northbrook would be a great place to start. We took my 92 year-old mother there for her first Korean barbeque experience, and she loved it. Just a couple miles up Milwaukee Avenue, It's a pleasant space with friendly servers and an extensive menu.

I introduced my once South Asian food averse parents to the cuisine at Viceroy of India. Obviously, its not the most adventurous option in the area, but the food is well-prepared, service is friendly and the environs are clean. Recently, I took my dad to Sabri Nihari, and he loved it, but I still credit Viceroy for being his gateway to the cuisine.
