Though there is a thread on Prasino in LaGrange, a new location has opened up in the Wicker Park neighborhood.

Enjoyed a tequila breakfast this last Saturday at Prasino. Unfortunately, my enjoyment came from the tequila, which made the food a bit more palatable.

This was an event sponsored by Tanteo Taquila that provided pairings for my 3-course breakfast meal

Meal started at 10:00 am with a very nice shot of espresso and Tanteo Cocoa

    First Course:

    Jalapeno Corn Biscuit cilantro, honey

    Paired with:

Corazon de Prasino Tanteo tropical, pomegranate, elderflower foam

As was the theme of the morning, I enjoyed the drink more than I did the food. Not to say the biscuit was bad (corn bread with a kick), but I felt more thought went into the cocktail.

    Second Course (Friend's Dish):

El Guapo Scrambler guajillo pork, charred tomato salsa, cilantro, avocado, crispy tortilla, queso fresco

    Second Course (My Dish):

Achiote Chicken Chilaquiles scrambled eggs, charred tomato salsa, avocado, crispy tortilla, cotija, sour cream
    Image

    Image

    Paired with:

"Lively" Cocktail Tanteo jalapeno, blood orange, fresh carrot
    Image

These dishes looked alike and tasted the same. That taste being mush. Crispy tortilla was actually quite mushy, and both dishes tasted quite soupy. Blech.

    Third Course:

Churro Crepes cinnamon, sugar and lime cream

    Paired with:

    Prasino Wake-Up Shot

    Tanteo cocoa, coffee liqueur
    Image

    demi sec chaser

drizzle was an overpowering coconut-milk cream that left an odd taste in my mouth

Looking around, patrons not taking part in this event seemed to enjoy themselves. Perhaps I just made a mistake going with this event, but I didn't exit with a desire to come back.

So they're open again after last Thursday's incident. That's good (and quick!).
