Long time reuben destination Seul's closed its doors in August, only to be reborn under new ownership as Stormy's. The place was taken over by its friendly bartender backed by the deep pocketed Bidwell family.

Other than the name and a minor spruce-up, not much has changed at Stormy's except the menu and possibly even more TVs than before. There seems to be several new items on offer, but thankfully the reuben remains on the menu.

I've been there a couple of times now. Once for a weekday lunch, when the funky ambiance of the bar with its myriad of televisions and groups of workers catching a quick beer and a sandwich remains much as it was before, and another time on a Friday night, when the place was jammed with screaming kids and their families and people were lined up two deep at the bar (I left before ordering).

Thankfully, the reuben and tots are still available and as good as ever.

What was once a nice quiet watering hole is now a nuthouse on weekends, but at lunchtime it's still a nice place to go.

I found myself in the neighborhood of Stormy's today at lunch time, so I stopped in for a Reuben. Other than the fact that they no longer give a shout out to Seul's on the menu, the Reuben and tots are as good as ever. You can now get sweet potato tots in addition to traditional potato flavor. I was there around 1:00 today and the placed was pretty full. Nice to see mid-day on a Thursday. They're doing much more business than they ever did back in the Seul's days. The same friendly bartenders are still on duty.

We've been ordering lunch from here again lately; about twice a month at the office. We really missed being so nearby and having it more often. But given its proximity to the Willow Rd. exit of the Edens expressway, it's still a fairly convenient shot from our current location Niles. Yes, the Reubens are as good as ever. So too are the turkey-bacon club sandwiches . . . most of the time. Every so often, they'll skimp out on the turkey but in most cases, they are piled high with real roasted turkey breast and lots of bacon. Their chili is not quite what it once was. It's still good but seems more black peppery and soupier now. Buffalo wings, which used to be way up there on my 'best in category' list, have fallen off a bit. The amount of sauce on them now varies wildly and even requests for more sauce tend to go unheeded. When they're on, they're on but these days it seems more likely that they won't be. :(

Daily specials remain interesting and often worth ordering. Last week, a special pot roast sandwich was really good. And you cannot beat the tater tots, which are one of the ultimate comfort items for me.

If I'm not mistaken, I saw that pot roast sandwich on the regular menu today. There seem to be several new menu items, but I didn't pay that close attention 'cause I had Reuben on my brain.
