yesterday on the way up north from DT i hit Damatos for a slice. It was not as good as I remember. But anyways Sometimes I just have a taste for a slice. One place I would not reccomend is aBaci 3300 on Harlem. The slice is big, thats it, just big pretty flavorless. I do like the slices at Village Inn, but have not been there in over a year. Slaernos on Grand sells a slice, but it is really a small pizza why they cal it a slice? I dunno.

Sorry i left out the point of starting this discussion. Does anyone have any places they go to for decent slices. It seems most places I get them they are an afterthought and usually not as good as the pizza they make whole. Any suggestions where to go?

Art of Pizza has slices of deep dish and thin. In desperate times... Chicago Pizza locations have slices as well.

Art of Pizza sells slices of stuffed pizza (which they call "deep dish," but we know that's incorrect) and a thick, doughy, cheesy style that I'd rather not mention.

Jimmy's was pretty good (and a nice guy).

Quite seriously, most Whole Foods; in addition to liking it personally, I have some NYC friends that say it scratches the itch. Also Italian Superior Bakery for sheet pizza, and Salerno's on Roosevelt (last resort) for a 1/4 pizza and pop for $5. Arnie Salerno's on Grove (Berwyn) is reportedly closed. Agree on Art of Pizza. Relatively recent intel in a massive thread on NY-style slices (and whole pies) starts here: viewtopic.php?p=322218#p322218

I seem to be alone here, but I'm going to keep recommending Dante's. Everyone else is wrong! I go there for a slice quite often and I effing love it.

I've actually had some decent slices from Whole Foods. I've also had some bad ones.

Say what you like, but lately I'm liking Gigio's in Uptown. Fast turnover, slices always seem to be fresh. I have them reheat it to "crispy"

Sorry John, you are wrong. I only go for an entire pie as it reheats wonderfully.

I haven't been there in quite some time, but Stephano's in Lansing used to serve by the slice.

Actually, according to the menu on their FB page, they serve combo meals (1 or 2 slices of pizza + small fry + 20 oz. drink)

Pizza Metro has an excellent potato rosemary slice, in fact I consider it one of the best bread services in town. They also have good roasted veg and garbage (everything) slices for $3 bucks cheap. Have thought on more than one occasion that I should post the potato slice on "the best things I've eaten lately" thread. And, they're open late.

Great rec, didn't know they have 'em by the slice and will visit again soon. Makes me wonder if Pizza Rustica might also have slices on hand as well...

After posting about it, we walked there for it. In one word. Potatorosemary. Excellent.

Agree. It's entirely dependent on whose making the pizza it seems (which you'd probably never know, unfortunately). We've had some great slices/take home pizzas and some absolutely terrible ones.
