Charcoal Delights + pix

I've suggested this before as a source for an honest, cooked-to-order, burger. And, delightfully, they cook over real hardwood lump charcoal, not briquettes.

Eat in, drive-through, take out.
Across the street from a McD's/Boston Market (where's the justice?).

There is a Charcoal Delights in Grayslake where there used to be Hardee's. Just down the street and within eyeshot is a Dog N'Suds, which I prefer for the 50's time warp feel.

Charcoal Delights is a true 50's establishment. I grew up mere blocks from there and they were cranking out pretty much the same chow when my mode d'transport was a bicycle. The interior has been remodeled since then and they have a new sign, butg all else remains much the same. CD wasn't my go to place, though. I was a fan of Learner's instead, but Learner's is long gone.

I went to the one in Grayslake, first of all the put a hot dog on french bread and it was a soggy roll that was prob reheated from the freezer. Fries were ok, although could of been seasoned better. On a 1-10 scale, 10 being best, I'd prob give it a 4.

Charcoal Delights also does a very good, cooked to order breakfast croissant.

Hi,

Charcoal Delights in Grayslake has closed. At this location, which was once a Hardees, there is a fast food place named 'Jack's.'
