Name of European-style bakery on NW side

Every year as my wedding anniversary gets close (it’ll be 23 years on 9/16), I start reminiscing about our delicious wedding cake. For the life of me, though, I can’t remember the name of the bakery. Perhaps someone here can help.

Here is what I DO remember:
• It was a German or Austrian bakery that had been in business many years (this was 1989)
• It was on a major east-west street on the NW side of Chicago, perhaps Addison or Belmont, no more than a couple miles east of the Kennedy
• I’m 90% sure it was on the south side of the street
• It was next door to or a couple doors down from a video store that specialized in old movies and independent films. This video store also had a huge collection of old movie posters.

A friend of mine who knows the city fairly well believes I am thinking of Lutz Café on Montrose, but Lutz seems larger than what I am remembering. And Lutz is on the north side of the street.

Can anyone out there help jog my memory?

Could it have been west of the Kennedy? I was thinking of the Pastry Shop, now closed @ Addison and Long? Cant remember the name right now

Could it have been Rolf's? They used to be on the northwest side before moving to Lincolnwood and ultimately going out of business.

Yeah, it was definitely on Addison, around 5400 W on the south side of the street. I used to go to that old movie poster shop there too. What I remember of that bakery was they allegedly had the best Napoleons in town. Sorry, I can't recall the name, but I'm pretty sure it's gone now.

From what I see on Google Maps, looks like the building is now a Farmers Insurance agency. Sorry to hear the bakery's been gone for a while. But, considering the results of my last cholesterol test, maybe that's not such a bad thing.
