Green House of Steak

Green House of Steak in little Village by 27th and Millard has got to be some of the best Mexican food in the city in my opinion. It's a little hidden gem inside of little village. The Shredded Beef (tinga) gorditas, quesadillas and tacos are outstanding. The salsa for the chips is fresh and with great flavor. They also serve Pambazos which are Tortas dipped in an enchilada sauce which they make a pretty good version of. Not sure why it's called Green House of Steak because it was mostly small Mexican items, but the food is delicious no matter what it's called. The Place is a bit hard to find, but worth the trip. Nicely decorated, big and staff is very helpful.

Even though I haven't yet eaten at the restaurant I'm a fan of Green House. For many years they've had a stand at the Maxwell Street Market.







I think their pambaso (the Market version at least) is the best I've had in Chicago. Any suggestions for better?

Less than a month ago I stopped at the restaurant at 27th & Millard to pick up a menu.



As they handed over the menu they sweetly cautioned me that they serve Mexican food. Maybe too many people have been disappointed that it's not a traditional steak house?

Anyone know offhand if they serve the pambaso at the restaurant or is it just a market item?

Also, I thought I remember reading a pambaso thread somewhere on LTH but I can't locate despite searching, if anyone could help out I'd appreciate it.
