Las Fresas Neveria Y Fruteria in RP

Since it opened a couple of weeks ago, every time I passed Las Fresas, they seemed to be doing great business. Well, I finally stopped in, and now I know why. Las Fresas is a combination Ice Cream Parlor and Fruit Stand. They serve several flavors of Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt and homemade fruit sorbets available in waffle cones, waffle bowls, cups and as sundaes. They serve more than a dozen exotic Licuados made from combinations of fresh fruit, like guava, mango and platanos, as well as rompopo topped with chopped nuts, granola and crushed cookies. The best items (in my opinion) are the cups of chopped fruit served with thick sweet cream or yogurt. The one I sampled had chopped apples, grapes, mango, platanos, strawberries and guava served in chilled whipping cream and topped with chopped pecans, hazelnuts and granola. It was a little pricey, but very filling and well worth it. Every dish is made to order, and the fruit is sliced fresh. On top of the sweeties, Las Fresas also offers a selection of seafood ceviches, elotes, fresh made potato chips and home-made Cheetos. Anyhow, the chilled fruit in cream really hit the spot on a warm summer night. I got the feeling that they are willing to prepare any combination of ingredients you might desire. It is a fun addition to North Clark Street.
