    Hi folks,
I plan to meet someone for lunch approximately half way between Winfield and Lincolnshire on Monday. Can anyone suggest some place to grab a bite? I'm not looking for anything fancy (not that kind of date. ;) ) - just good food and not necessarily a lot of it. Suggestions wold be welcome!

    thanks,
    hank

I know it's a chain, but I like Big Bowl (Thai/Asian) located in the Streets of Woodfield. Not many Mom and Pops in the Schaumburg area. Champps on Golf Rd. serves a decent lunch as well.

If you're looking for bar and grille stuff there's Stonewood Ale House. I haven't tried Zeal yet but the menu at least looks interesting. Tokio Pub is attached to Shaws Crab House. Another one that I haven't gotten to.

Chef Ping scores over my other usual asian possibilities. Bistro Dragon and Crazy Buffet are off of Biesterfield. Pings can have a 10-15 minute wait if your timing is unfortunate. Asian Bistro is in the neighborhood of Pings and Penang though I still haven't gotten there. Sake Sushi and Grill is pretty good. It's near Golf and Plum Grove.

Just as an aside there's a Northwest Restaurant Week starting 2/20. Some restaurants are serving lunch.

I have several "go to" places where I lunch regularly in that area, places with excellent food and are nice places to relax and chat:

    Taste of Thai
    1029 W Golf Rd
    Hoffman Estates, IL 60169
    (847) 490-9994

    Salsa 17
    17 W Campbell St
    Arlington Heights, IL 60005
    (847) 590-1122

    Lou Malnati's Pizzeria
    1050 E Higgins Rd
    Elk Grove Village, IL 60007
    (847) 439-2000
Keep in mind that you can phone in your pizza order and they'll have it ready when you get there, if you don't want to wait 30+ minutes while seated for them to bake you a deep-dish.

There's also the excellent Shaw's Crab House, right next to the previously-mentioned Big Bowl in Streets of Woodfield, but it's more upscale and pricey, probably not what you're looking for.
