I'm not looking to rehash a debate on the merits of OpenTable, rather, I'd like to compile a list of quality dinner spots in Chicago that do not use that service. So I have a list when I'm making some dinner plans. To use in addition to that service. Notations for no reservations, phone/email only, and alternative websites would be appreciated. I'll start off with a few easy ones:

    Schwa (phone, maybe)

    Alinea (tickets through website)

    Next (tickets through website)

    Elizabeth (tickets through website)

    Ruxbin (seatme)

    Mott St. (seatme)

    Baffo (seatme)

    Kai Zan (seatme)

    Two (seatme)

    Au Cheval (no reservations)

    Longman & Eagle (no reservations)

    Dusek's (no reservations)

    Thanks!!

El Ideas (phone or via website)

    42 Grams (tickets through website)

Feast & Imbibe (tickets through website)

Grace (weekends via phone only; weekdays via OpenTable)

    La Sirena Clandestina (no reservations)

    Purple Pig (no reservations)

Two services that compete with Opentable are City Eats, and Seatme (which is part of Yelp). You can go to the City Eats website to view all the restaurants that they accept reservations for (click here), but the Seatme website is only designed for restauranteurs, not restaurant customers. Some restaurants use more than one of these three services, while others stick to only one. City Eats accepts reservations for some Chicago-area restaurants that aren't on Opentable, including Brindille and La Sirena Clandestina.

    See previous paragraph.

EDIT: Changed to reflect the inability to list restaurants on Seatme.

Azzurra EnoTavola uses city eats. It's the reason I was able to get a last minute reservation there for Valentine's Day (bc they weren't on opentable).
