Formerly Masala Grill, Masti is still Indian and Pakistani food but they now have karaoke. This place opened up months ago and I've always driven past it on my way to work. I love Indian/Pakistani food. I love to support the restaurants on Devon and am happy with the cultural selections in this area. I'll admit I thought the karaoke aspect is quite odd for a restaurant...

    First experience.

The food blew me away! It was awesome! The first time I had it, I was starving. I was craving Indian and Masti delivered! I ordered what appeared to be lamb or goat feet. I'll admit I had no clue what I ordered, but it was awesome. I inhaled everything within minutes. I was desperate for protein and carbs so I ordered whatever.

    Second experience.

I ordered Karahi Gosht, Chapati, Paratha, Paya, and Aloo Samosa. Everything was a home run but I noticed that the main course was really greasy. I mean, it looked like a soup made of oil and curry. It was still very delicious so that's all that mattered but I felt the oil oozing out of my pores. I felt like a greasy teenager again but whatever my stomach was happy.

    Third experience

This was my first time stepping inside. No one was singing. The environment doesn't feel appropriate for karaoke but what do I know? I was hoping someone would bust out some Bollywood music, but nothing.... I ordered Chana Masala and Achari Gosht. Holy moly, the food here gets oilier with every experience. It was like eating oil soup with chunks of meat. Once again it was good, but I don't know if I could eat something so oily (well I guess I do). I'm talking thick slab of oil. Normally I would be disgusted, but being the slob that I am, I ate it all and felt guilty for enjoying it so much.

    Conclusion.

Food is delicious if you can get past the oiliness of Masti. Don't be surprised if your main course looks like a goopy soup of brown oil. It does make a great dip for naan. Yes you'll feel the oil slowly greasing up your face through your pores but it's all about having a tasty experience right? Masti won't be for everyone, but I'll probably eat here again. If you're looking for quality Indian/Pakistani food, head east on Devon and you'll find many. Overall I like Masti's food over Masala so I guess it's a success considering it's in the same spot. As for the chef.... ease up on that oil!!! Doesn't feel very healthy but strangely... I am craving more Masti...
