A friend & I had take out sandwiches from
Boloney's Sandwich Shop in downtown Barrington.
I had a hot corned beef on rye & my friend had the Herman Muenster (Roast beef, muenster cheese, mayo, lettuce and tomato}
the pros: Boloney's sure piles up the meat, these are very meat heavy sandwiches. The sandwiches look very good. There are also good bread selections.
the cons: corned beef is from a bottom round and sliced razor thin, then microwaved to heat up, this was apparent as some of the meat I could tell was over-nuked. The flavor & tender of the corned beef was ok, but the quality of the Boloney's corned beef paled in comparison to the homemade corned beef on the Rueben I had the other week at
The Canteen in Barrington. The roast beef at Boloney's is not homemade and tastes processed. Based on these meats, I'm going to assume that none of the meats are made on premise at Boloney's. If someone knows different, please advise.
Boloney's is for sure a step up from Subway or other heavily processed sandwich maker but that's about the most positive thing I can say.
