    Hi All,

Long time lurker, first time poster. Stopped in at Comalito today on an impulse. Have been meaning to check it out. Has "that look" from the outside. Directly next to Birria Estilo Jalisco on Western Ave. Two women working a tiny kitchen on the inside, menu with a lot of potential. Hand made corn tortillas were excellent, as were the three house salsas (tomatillo, chipotle, nuttier/cream type number). The lengua was not texturally pleasant and was under-seasoned, but the right filling with these tortillas and salsas could be very promising, not to mention plenty of other interesting items on the menu. This place deserves a look if you're in the area.

I have only had takeout from El Comalito, so this post should be considered in that light. I absolutely concur with the above comments that the corn tortillas 'hecho a mano' are terrific. The price difference is $2.25 for regular store bought tortillas, and $3 for the hand made. I've only tried the carnitas filling the two times I've gotten food here, and it was perfectly good. I will probably try a pastor and asada next time though to compare options. The $3 tacos are pretty large as well, almost twice the size of a typical standard store corn tortilla.

Options hand-written on the front door for taco fillings are pastor, lengua, asada, tripa, and although carnitas aren't listed they do have them (at least on weekends). Last time I got the orange salsa, maybe a peanut/arbol and it was nicely flavored and spicy. Also, they take cards so that is convenient. They were pretty busy on Sunday, all tables (about 6 total in the restaurant) were full which was nice to see. They give you chips and beans along with the salsas if you eat in.
