Looking for the old fashioned Americanized chop suey kind of place like China Chef in Morton Grove where my folks were friend with Art Fong the owner (true fact, while growing up I thought the restaurant's actual name was Art Fong's). Not an adventurous or highly spiced-loving group.

We don't really love any of the places in the area: Golden Chef was our go-to before the ownership changed, I don't care for Tong's, the place by Max & Benny's is meh, same with the one on Willow and Pfingsten. Yummy Bowl in HP is okay but like a few on Waukegan in Glenview....nothing we ever want to visit a second time.

Suggestions in time for Christmas Eve?

Honestly, it's not that far a trip down I-94 . . . why not go to China Chef?

Young's on Waukegan still ranks as one of the most disgusting meals I've ever had.

Little Schezwan in HP is not bad...
and I actually like Golden Chef on Milwaukee for that type of Chinese.
