2849 Harlem Ave, Chicago
Classic, old school, mom ‘n pop kinda place.
In order of enjoyment; crisp and crackery crust, tangy sauce, good and flavorful sausage, tasty and nicely browned cheese.
I know the toppings don’t run to the edge but I think it adds. A little bit of that cooked tomato cracker is delicious.
I did get xtra sausage as I knew it would be good.
I arrived early for a pickup just to savor the place. 2 young gents, one on dough preparation, another on assembly. A senior gent working the oven with expertise and a gal working the counter and taking calls. All working very hard on a busy Friday night.
Memorabilia covering the walls, memories of days gone by ($5 16” sausage pizzas from 1972!).
It was mentioned that it is not dine in but they were happy to accommodate us with plates and napkins as we settled in on the benches in the lobby for a few nice and hot slices.
In this world of spic and span tiled (Jet’s) or almost formal dining (Lou Malnati’s) this is almost unique.
