Titus Ruscitti/Da Beef, Culinary Magellan circumnavigating the globe with an emphasis on Chicagoland and the Midwest. Hit two Mexican spots Sunday with King T, both subsets of subsets, and delicious ones at that.
Tacos de Canasta Rossy Mexican Food for tacos de canasta is a weekend only culinary window well worth experiencing and one of the reasons I love living in Chicagoland. The pro move, as outlined by Titus/ChiBBQKing, is scatter a few toasted pumpkin seeds, pickled onion and a drizzle of salsa. Eat, enjoy, repeat. Four types available, bean, potato, chicken mole, pressed spicy chicharron, aka Chicharron Prensado. Red & green tamales wrapped in banana leaf, Mexican soda, and friendly welcoming good cheer round out the experience.
We also hit Tacos El Tio for for Birria de Res, which Titus explained is popping in LA, rich spicy delicious beef consomme and terrific house made salsa. Al Pastor tip top as well. I loved the birria de res but have been dreaming about Rossy's tacos de canasta.
Bonus round,
Morena’s is just up the street.
