I need a recommendation for a karoke place near the River North area. Ideally a place that has a private room, but would like to know about all of the places that offers karoke.

Also, other neighborhoods aren't out of the question.

    Thanks!

There's a place I go to on the North Side every so often simply called 'Karaoke Restaurant' (although I don't think they actually serve food there, except for a snack tray if you're nice). It's a Korean Karaoke place (although they have a ton of English songs too), where you rent a private room to sing in. I've had some very, very good times there. I'd recommend calling ahead and booking a room though, it can get busy on weekends. It's in the same strip mall as Hae Woon Dae, so you can have a nice meal before/after your singing.

One warning - you are charged by the hour and pay as you leave, so if you don't keep an eye on how long you are there for and how many beers you are putting away, the bill at the end of the night can be a bit of a shock!

I think the most famous karaoke bar in Chicago is Trader Todd's, which has karaoke 7 nights a week starting at 9pm.

    Enjoy!

I concur with the Karaoke Restaurant recommendation, including the warning about the bill... been there a couple times and once our bill was $900 (for around 16 people)... try negotiating that with friends at 3:00 a.m. after drinking all night!! Another good spot is the Hidden Cove on Lincoln Avenue -- huge song list, 2 pool tables, and relatively cheap drinks. Also, if you're interested in live band karaoke, Pontiac has it on Friday nights (on Damen south of North Ave.)

Karoke Restaurant seems good, but it's way out of the River North area.

So far it seems like Trader Todd's is in the running. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!
