    Greetings,

Does anyone know whether one could order a sashimi/sushi platter from Katsu for take out? We would gladly go in person, but having a two-month old along for the ride can make for a bumpy evening all around. If the answer is a resounding no, take-out sushi alternatives would be welcome.

    Thank you in advance,
    J. Ro

I believe not, and in any case, one of the things you really want is cooked food there, not just sushi.

However, Tampopo will make a takeout platter, and it will cost a lot less (it also isn't quite as nice, but it will certainly beat the sushi at Whole Foods or Jewel).

A good friend of mine spends a fortune on Katsu take-out sushi.

    Best,

    J. Ro,
Having a 3 year old I can empathize somewhat though the whole first year was a foggy haze. If you want to try dine in, you might try Rengae Tai. It's been written up quite favorably here. Though it is not Katsu level sushi, the sushi is certainly very good as are their other dishes. More importantly, I think it is a very family oriented place, where a fussy 2 month old would not be out of place. On our last trip there, it was full of families, and our son, who is an avid restaurant roamer/ explorer was met with nothing but smiles and greetings from both guests and staff.

Thank you all for the information and helpful suggestions.

Mike G, I agree with you that the cooked dishes at Katsu are exquisite, but for this occasion, I'm looking to eat RAW and at home.

Mr. T, I'll keep the Regae Tai recommendation in mind for the future.

    Keep eating,
    J. Ro

There are a number of posts here on Renga-Tei, and I concur with Mr. T's endorsement, if not his spelling, which might make searches difficult.
