When I tried to call this Guatamalan place at 1024 N. Ashland today I found that the number had been disconnected. Does anyone know for sure whether it's closed?

I don't think it's closed- we ate there a few weeks ago.
Then again, it's usually empty when we go by.

If they did close and you are craving those Central American plantains, you could try nearby Irazu at 1865 N Milwaukee

I drove by this afternoon and lights were on, "Open" sign lit. No customers that I could see but it was halfway between lunch and dinner so that's not surprising.

I live right down the street so I've eaten there a few times lately, the most recent being last week. It was a weekday at around 7:30 - 8:00. There were a couple other tables occupied. Before that, I was there on a Friday and there was only one available table.
