New menu board when you enter Baba's - it includes photos of the various dishes for those unfamiliar with the food. At the counter, they also have laminated small versions of this with the photos.

Prices have increased slightly - to $8 for a whole portion (rather than $7) & a half portion is $4.50. Still unbelievably cheap & my local "I can't be bothered to cook" location. For those of you looking for something new in "homestyle" indian/pakistani food, do try the daals (lentils) - there is a fresh one every day, particularly ones rarely seen on restaurant menus here in the US, such as masoor and toor daals.

Do large groups of cab drivers still chain-smoke throughout the restaurant? Perhaps this is what gave the dishes their "smoky" flavor.
Mrs. johnny and I used to order take-out from there frequently when we lived down the street. My favorite was the Frontier Chicken - which they seemed to stop making during our later visits. It was a giant aluminum pan of shredded, spicy chicken covered in grease. My heart hurts just thinking about it. While the decor leaves much to be desired, it was always a good take-out option.
