    Hello everyone,

A good friend of mine is taking her relative out to lunch on Monday. I need a good place to eat that is moderatly priced off of Belmont. If she was dining in the burbs I would have many a suggestions, but I know the city for nothing other than bars. Please help.

The only req's are outside seating, and that I know that she likes tapas and french, btw no red meat or pork as the main menu items

    Thank you for your suggestions

Hey Flip - how far do you want to drive, off Belmont, or how far west do you mean? There are lots of good options, but most are a little south or north of Belmont, and a little further west.

And there is this question about what you mean by moderately priced. There are not the really expensive places around there, anyway, but I am not sure how little they want to spend.

Yoshi's is a decent choice in the neighborhood, and has outside seating, but I am not sure if they are open for lunch.

    David,

Sorry that I wasn't clear. (beer does that to me :D ) It's not for me, a friend is taking her relative out who lives off of Belmont just west of the city. She asked me for suggestions because she didn't want to go back to Cafe Iberico. As I stated above I'm not familiar with the city in any way (remember you had to tell me how to get to Chinatown  ). Any places with a nice patio within 20 mins should work.

    Thanks,

There are many choices for outdoor dining. One I have found only recently is Jacks, it is at 2900 Southport, it is a sports bar that has a wine bar as part of it. they have a wonderful patio which is very pleasant and off the street so you dont get a lot of noise and fumes with your fume'. I recommend the Chicken Pot Pie, homemade and some of the best in the city.

There is also the Melrose for typical diner food, but it is great for people watching, 3300 N Broadway, and a half a block north is Joy;s for Thai food. they don't have a large menu but the prices are cheap.

Since you mentioned not too much meat, there is the Chicago Diner at 3400 N. Halsted, which has a patio in the back, but this is strict Vegitarian fare.

There are lots more, but this may be a good start to the Lakeview Dining experience.

    Hope this helps.

There are many patios I like even when the food is just fair-- Corosh on Milwaukee south of Division, for instance-- but I think the more difficult question here is, who will be open for lunch in that area?

I just saw additional raves here for Jack's chicken pot pie. http://leahj.blog-city.com/

Makes me think it might be worth the trip. Lord knows I've eaten enough terrible chicken pot pie that I'm due for the good stuff.
