I wonder if anyone has tried out this place? The sign outside says "Oscar's" but it looks like it may have changed hands recently. The other day on a trip to midway I promised my son some nice al pastor and liquados so we went over to the almost next door atotonilco branch. Going in to atotonilco i noticed some of the signs outside at Quesadillas de Morelia for items I hadn't seen before so I thought I'd ask about them. The menu lists:

Quesadillas Morelianas (how do these differ from regular quesadillas?)
    Bistecate
    chambindecas

they also have alambres and sincorizadas, as well as the usual tacos, burritos, huuaraches and gordits

it seems cheese is a very popular item from these possible orders:
    pechuqueso
    choriqueso
    champiqueso
    pastor con queso (no pastoriqueso?)

between Atotonilco and QdeM is Paleteria Tropical a nice little shop with a number of nieves, helados and paletas which seem to be made in house. I had a very rich paleta de cajeta which really put our meal over the top.

Amata and I liked Oscar's on our one visit last year (almost exactly one year ago, in fact)...

Today seems to be the day to reflect upon good little Mexican joints that didn't last too long... first Tacos del Pacifico and now Oscar's... It's all so fleeting...

Thanks for the tip, Zim. QdM sounds like it well deserves a visit.

Is that crazy Mexican hot-dog available anywhere else in the city? I still have yet to try any of the Latin American takes on our Chicago classic, including the salchipapas with noxious purple dressing at Salamera.

Thanks, I knew that there was some reason I should have remembered Oscar's. Fwiw, they are still offering pambazos.

Evan, I'm pretty sure that JeffB wrote up somewhere about the hot dogs you are searching out at Dona torta on ashland
