Sorry for the delay... Busy weekend and week so far...
We had a great meal at La Q in Aurora on Friday night. We arrived at about 7:30pm and I would say that the place was about half full. While we were there they had a steady flow of people, but it never filled up. the decor is clean but minimal and the staff was very friendly. In fact, I suspect that they switched waitress stations to give us a wiatress that spoke english (I speak very little spanish and my wife speaks none).
We started off with two margaritas, which were very good, but slightly different that what I am used to. They had a brighter green color and a flavor to them that I couldn't quite place. Not a bad flavor, just different. We also were served a basket of warm tortilla chips and a bowl of salsa. the salsa was served hot (temperature-wise), which I am also not used to. The salsa was chunky and had a nice heat to it. We ordered guacamole to munch on while we looked over the menu and received a large portion of fresh, chunky guac with lots of tomato, onions and cilantro.
The menu was different than what I saw online. the Barbacoa de Chivo estilo Teloloapan was not on the menu in the restaurant, which was a dissapointment since that is was I had Planned on trying. I ended up with Carne de LaQuebrada, which is a nice-sized portion of strip steak, grilled, and then covered with a sauce of tomatoes, peppers and onions (molcajete sauce) with melted cheese on top. It was very good! My wife ordered Pollo en Ajillio, which is a pounded chicken breast covered in ajillo sauce, a spicy garlic sauce. It was also very good, but maybe a little too spicy for her. At one point she told me that her lower lip was numb!
Overall, we enjoyed our experience and we will go back for more!
