    Welcome to LTHforum,

Since you are the simple man with simple tastes, then you may have eaten already a lot of chicken tenders. Why not tell us what you have gauged as the best, good or at least acceptable. It would seem most chicken tenders are cooked from a big plastic bag kept in the freezer. However maybe you have located some where they cut the chicken breast fresh, roll it in flour, some eggy-buttermilk mixture then rolled in seasoned flour.

What type of sauce goes with your chicken tenders? Ranch dressing? Sweet and sour? Hot sauce, which may mean you are not so simple!

I must admit to being carefull nowadays about fried mushrooms. Practically the only ones I will eat are from Brown's chicken because most come from the big plastic bag kept in the freezer. If the establishment claims they make their own, then I am all there.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

    C2,

True chicken tenders are a separate piece of meat attached to the bottom side of the breast meat. Most places that I've worked either just pulled them off the whole breast or ordered them fresh. Even though I don't like much else from Pappadeaux their tenders are prepared using your method mentioned above.

The Chicago Chicken Shack in Evanston has good tenders (they call them 'bits'). They're actual bite-size pieces of chicken, not formed from mince, and are fresh fried when ordered. They are really pretty good.

Two sauces are available, hot and BBQ.

J.Alexander's has top-of-the-line chicken tenders. I think they actually use fresh meat, and have a pretty incredible batter that is twice dipped and spicy. Seriously, not bad... for a chicken tender.

Not a sophistimicated place, but appropriate to your query: I love the chicken tenders at Father & Son's Pizza, though I've only had them at the Milwaukee Ave. location. The BBQ version are coated with that Sysco BBQ sauce that I have a soft spot for.

I would mention Kinkade's on Armitage and Sheffield only because having their chicken tenders on a day that I was nursing the worst hangover of my life quickly turned me around and had me drinking hard again within the hour.

The best chicken tenders I've ever had were at a place called The Village Pub in Schaumburg. I think it's on Wise west of Roselle.

The Cheesecake Factory has good ones as well. And honestly, I enjoy the ones from my Jewel's Chef's Kitchen!

I really like the chicken tenders at Fizz, on Lincoln just north of Belmont, but they're not traditional -- they're coated in tempura batter. Extra crispy.

At work we have a cafeteria that has a Robinson's Ribs concession. Their tenders are quite good - I think they are actual chicken, in a spicy, sagey breading. Adding sauce is really not necessary. Plus they give you enough for 2 people with 2 sides and a roll or cornbread for $5!

the chicken tenders from bar louie are true tenders (not strips cut from the breast) and are marinated in buttermilk and dredged in flour to order.

    they're pretty good.

As mentioned in the Chix wing thread, the best tenders in the city can be found at Dublins bar and grill. They make them fresh on the spot and come regular or spicy, with buffalo sauce. The result is the best bar food item in the city. They are $10 and listed under appetizers, but can easily be shared between 2-3 peops or ordered as an entree, they also come with an abundance of dnag good fries. Try these and I guarantee you will be back again.
