I love a great club sandwich. Carved turkey. Crisp bacon. Toasted wheat bread. A slice of tomato and a leaf of lettuce.

Of late, my favorite places for a club have been the Coq d'Or lounge in the Drake Hotel (holder of the city's No. 2 liquor license, as we all know...) and Southgate Cafe, which is located in Lake Forest. Each is accompanied with a heaping of potato chips (homemeade at Southgate).

Often, my wife and I each order a cup of soup (Bookbinder's at Coq d'Or, tomato basil at Southgate) and then split a club. It's the perfect meal -- be it lunch or dinner.

So, with that, I'm in search of other highly recommended club sandwiches. I'd prefer the basic sandwich, as described above, but willing to entertain other variants, be it served on a baguette or with some 'special sauce' that's to write home about. City or suburbs, it doesn't matter.

    Thanks for the suggestions...

I too love a good club. Cheesecake Factory has a really great, traditional, triple decker club. I used to work there and I ate them everyday and would gladly do it again. They roast their own turkety.
I also like Hackney's--I go to the one in Printer's Row--it is not a triple decker, it comes on choice of bread, but of course their housemade dark rye is favorable. Their turkey is sliced thick, a little too thick, but overall a great sandwich.
