For the preparation of this dish, the clams are quickly stir-fried with sweet soy sauce, oyster sauce, minced garlic, white pepper, Thai basil, and chile jam (náam phrík phão). The results are agreeably pungent and salty, making this dish an ideal compliment to a large quantity of steamed rice.
