For my best friend's birthday outing, we are going to see Cirque de Shanghai, preceeded by lunch at Riva, which is one of our "oughta do it once"meals.

I have gone through all the postings that mention Riva, but don't find any specific ordering recommendations. Can you help?

I looked at the menu www.stefanirestaurants.com/riva.htm and what catches my eye (as always) is the lump crab cake, Jonah crab (what is Jonah crab?) salad, and some of the fish dishes. I would like to love my lunch as well as the view. Speaking of which, should I request a particular table location when I make the reservation?

    Thank you all.

After several trips to Riva, I have settled on ordering mainly fish dishes, which they seem to always prepare well. The shellfish, although good, are generally very overpriced (even more so than the rest of the already overpriced entrees) and the steaks, etc. are nothing special. Enjoy!
