The Fried Bologna Maidens enthusiastically serve up their excellent sandwiches -- this year, wrapped in checkerboard napkins. Grilled onions a very nice touch. One of the best things I had tonight.

"Didn't I see you here last year," said the nice panzerotti lady. "Yes," I said sheepishly, as I continued snapping pix of her uncle. This family makes panzerotti all year around for family functions, but once a year, they rent this fancy machine and sell to the public.

The Wife has a moment with a possessed carny horse -- it was a little scary but also cool.

Bocce ball. A most wonderful sport. May even be played with stylin' hat while smoking cigar.

    Hammond,

Looks a most excellent time! Had I not been at The Goat King's annual pig roast in Aurora I'd have been cozing up the bologna ladies.

    David,

Thank you for the kind words. Again, another Taste of Melrose Park has passed and we are grateful for all of those who stopped by to see us at our stand. Believe me when I tell you this event is more a labor of love than a money maker for my family. It is what this board is about, sharing great food and experiences with other people. For the foodie in all of us, it is a great format to sample lots of items. I am glad that everyone got to come out and enjoy some great dishes and have some fun. Of course, we are biased as to the best tastes at the Taste, but there is a host of good things for everyone. We look forward to seeing everyone next year.

Dave, thanks for highlighting this festival. i had been meaning to go for some years now, but thanks to your posts we made our inauguaral journey this year and the family quite enjoyed it, the kids especially loved the deep-fried twinkies, while my favorite may have been the individual mini frosted cream puffs.
