I believe Blackwood Station refers to their 2nd outpost in Pittsboro. I have not been to the Pittsboro location (as I used to live only 6 minutes from the Chapel Hill one), but there have been many reports of their cue lacking the same smoke flavor.
And according to
this thread, the other location may be using gas as opposed to wood.
I actually quite enjoy their huspuppies, as they're of the sweet, onion-y variety. And my standard protocol was to ask for the pulled pork with extra burned bits.
