Michael Ruhlman writes about the Velvet Tango Room on his blog. Anyone been? This sure inspires me to finally get around to making my own bitters, a project that I've been putting off for too long.

Nice blog entry by Ruhlman. Almost makes me want to go to Cleveland!

Was there 2 weeks ago and was extremely impressed. I'm not much of a cocktailer but it's hard to imagine a better bar than the VTR. Maybe The Violet Hour is in the same league. I'm guessing that it strives to be. Click here, for a few pics I took while I was there.

I really enjoyed Cleveland. It's a beautiful city and I had lots of great food while I was there, over a long weekend. Probably the best place I ate while I was there was Carrie Cerino's, which was truly memorable and reminded me -- at least in spirit -- of Sabatino's. Michael Symon's Lola was no slouch, either.

Wow. Wow! Amazing pictures (of the bar and the event more generally).
I'm actively trying to think of an excuse to get to Cleveland ASAP. Thanks for sharing. (Is following others' eating and drinking trail sufficient?)

Any chance your pastrami recipe is posted somewhere?
Edited to add: Did you use the recipe from Charcuterie?

    Thank again.

“This is the best bar in the world.” Days later on further reflection, you’re a bit more balanced. OK, best bar between Chicago (newly opened Violet Hour) and New York (Pegu, Milk and Honey)

Why not just stay in town....

There was more than just the bar on the page Ronnie sent us to. There were nice scenes from restaurants also. I was referring to the whole thing. Sorry if that wasn't clear. My thoughts on the Violet Hour are here.
