Some quick food notes from the past 7 days in Vegas:
- I'm not a fan of Todd English's cooking style (huge portions and heavy sauces for a place described as "Mediterranean"), but the vanilla soufflé at Olives was the single best thing I tasted all week.
- Memphis Championship BBQ is the real deal. The ribs had terrific flavor and some nice chew. Collard greens were outstanding, as were most of the sides. A much nicer sit-down setting than I expected too.
- Lotus of Siam can't handle sudden rushes of big crowds. My party of 4 sat there with a bottle of wine for over an hour. Three complaints later and we still didn't have our food. We left without eating. They were at least gracious enough to give us the wine for free.
- The beer at Gordon Biersch brewery is at best on par with Miller Light, and they refuse to cook a burger to less than 155 degrees.
