My brother Tom has always had a discerning palate. On my mother's 30th birthday, when he was 3, he made the rounds of the northwoods Minnesota resort dining room where my family was celebrating and stole pats of cold butter from all the tables. Fortunately, all of those tables were occupied by very nice people. But then, Tom was always a charmer, and a fan of Italian flavors. My Mom used to say that he was "Italian in a past life," because he regularly requested her spaghetti for dinner. I don't know about Tom's karmic heritage, but I do know that spaghetti was the best dish in my Mom's kitchen repertoire.

In recent years, Tom has moved away from butter -- and toward cheese. But he has not abandoned his preference for Italian flavors. A few weeks ago, he took me to his favorite local pizza spot, Jimmy and Bobo's Colony Grill, in Stamford, CT. He ordered 2 pizzas: sausage and onion, and green pepper and pepperoni. Here are the pics:

Even though he's my younger brother, I guess Tom knows a thing or two about good pizza. When he comes to Chicago, I'm going to take him to Burt's for my favorite burnt crust.

Man : I can't understand how a poet like you can eat that stuff.

    Josephine,

Looks terrific, seems Tom does know a thing or two about pizza! Though one should never abandon butter. :)

    Enjoy,
