Carnegie Deli Owner Dies

The old deli guys are leaving us, witness the passing of one of the two men who put the Carnegie on the map in New York.

While there are plenty of good traditional delis in New York, the 'scene' at the Carnegie, along with the food, made it my favorite stop among delis in the City.

The community tables were always a treat, never knowing who you might share a table with, as my Dad and I did 20-some years ago, with Rod Steiger.
