I generated a list of places as possible stops on my way to the writer's symposium at the Greenbrier in West Virginia by using the Roadfood website, and this place was my chosen lunch spot if I happened to be around Charleston, WV around lunchtime, which I was yesterday.

It's a really amazing old art-deco style diner that's wonderfully preserved, in a not-overdone, still-functioning-as-a-real-restaurant sort of way. The art deco part is great, but this place is not a museum and isn't crowded because the locals love looking at the chrome. The food's really quite good as well.

I had a turkey sandwich because they make a big deal about the fact that the turkey is real, whole turkey, roasted in house. I did a build-your-own sandwich with turkey, bacon, cheddar, and avocado on rye, and the waitress asked if I wanted it grilled, which sounded good.

Great turkey. Super moist and flavorful, lots of herb flavor and really tasted as if the turkey had been roasted that day before being shaved and piled onto my sandwich. This was one of the better sandwiches I've had in a few months that wasn't an Italian beef.

I took a lot of pictures, so I'll just go ahead and post them up. This place is well worth a stop if you find yourself in the area. I didn't have a chance to sample any of the ice cream fountain creations, but was sorely tempted.
