Long Island, NY - Huntington Station area

We're packing up the kids and driving to Long Island in June. We'll be staying in and around Huntington Station. What's good to try in the area? What's native? I've never really spent time on the island and any tips are appreciated.

The Other Dr. Gale's family lives in Hicksville, not so far away. One place that we find ourselves returning to time after time is the Mediterranean Snack Bar, a first-class Greek resto. Lots of traditional food, high quality and prepared well. It's in downtown Huntington, with a city parking lot only a block away. Great bet.

In Port Washington is Louie's, an oyster and seafood place, right on the water, homey and comfortable, with a fantastic Friday afternoon Happy Hour. This has been a family fave for a couple of generations.

My wife spent many years in this area growing up - we're going to visit her father. The one spot she always wants to visit is the Mediterranean Snack Bar. I've been there once and I presume we'll hit it again during this trip. We've not heard of Louie's - sounds like a great place. Thanks, Geo.

Grew up a few towns over, eat pizza, a calzone, an everything bagel with olive cream cheese, lox, onion tomato. Chinese food, and pizza, also get lots of garlic knots at the pizzeria. I still don't get why they don't have that here.

Also try the stuffed pizza, so not like Chicago style put like two layered new york style pizzas facing each other.
