The one advantage of Montreal is that there is a law requiring restaurants to post a menu in front of their establishment and most, if not all, comply. Therefore, you never get surprised by either the menu of the prices.

I do not have any specific recommendations as it has been at least five years since my last visit. It is one of the best restaurant town in North America. Unfortunately, most of the time I spent there was as a poor student.

The last time I was in ( Old ) Montreal, we had great steaks at Gibby's. They serve premium Alberta beef that rivals our USDA Prime. Clubby, cozy atmosphere in a 300 year old building----You might want to double-check the prices / The current exchange rate might not yield less than $25 U.S. per person.

    Good Luck-------

Schwartz's deli for awesome smoked beef, similar to corned beef. Its a bit touristy, but tasty. Bon appetit.
