    Hi Barb
If you haven't already done so, be sure to search for Philadelphia in the "Beyond Chicagoland" forum.

    Not so recent

[/url] and in particular, don't skip by the link to Hollyeats.com

Very recent (but lukewarm on value for your $$) here.

    Also Morimoto and

    Le Bec-Fin and Striped Bass

I look forward to the other suggestions you get.

Thank you Ann! I have wanted to go to Morimoto for awhile, so far, that will be our choice.
I am interested to see if anyone has more recent experiences to recomend.

We ended up going to Audrey Claire...I had been a few years ago and it was very good, affordable and BYOB!

I would recomend it. This is what we had:

Flat bread with mozzarella and tomato
beet salad with Gorgonzola and oranges
arugula salad with goat cheese crustini
Branzano with a shallot vinaigrette and roasted vegetables

I think we picked too many items with cheese, a rich and very filling dinner.

We were visiting my parents in PA this weekend and had an amazing meal in Conshohocken (right outside of Philly) called Blackfish. I apologize for not remembering everything we had but here is a brief description of the highlights.

    Starters:

House smoked Scottish salmon, crispy potatoes, deep fried egg, and crème fraiche: I wish I could have this for breakfast everyday even though it was dinner. Basically, it was a perfectly poached egg that was encapsulated in a crisp potato wrapped in what to me was perfectly smoked salmon. It was just fantastic.

Foie gras with rhubarb: I actually have limited experience with foie gras as I am not a huge meat fan, but this was superb. The fat just melted in your mouth and it was served with a rhubarb panne cotta type thing on top of it. There was also little pieces of candied rhubarb on top of a crostini next to it. Another fantastic dish!

Risotto with spring vegetables: Tasty but nothing noteworthy except that my 11 month old ate most of it.

Oysters with meyer lemon: The oysters were served with this really intense meyer lemon foam. I am often not a fan of a foam, but this one seemed a bit more dense and tasted amazing with the oysters. Sorry, I have no clue what type of oyster it was.

Yellowfin tuna with a melon salsa: The tuna was lovely but this dish was a bit bland compared to some of the others.

For my entree I had the fish special which was a relative of mahi-mahi. It was pan fried and then roasted and served with some really nice spicy mustard greens. Other people at my table had the bouillabaisse which was exceptional. There were the usual clams, mussels, shrimp plus mahi-mahi and skate wing. The one odd addition was the yellowfin tuna. This was served medium rare and just did not seem to mesh. Someone else had the roast chicken which sounds quite boring but was just perfectly prepared.

Sorry, I have no dessert report. We were so full and my baby was getting a little impatient :?

If you're looking for a terrific neighborhood BYOB, go no further than Tre Scalini:

Their branzino is always dead on.
